Kemper exhibit to explore Cubist still lifes
A new exhibit will examine a transitional period for Georges Braque, a leading founder of Cubism. More than 35 paintings of still lifes and interiors the artist produced between 1928 and 1945 will be displayed Jan. 25 to April 21. Karen Butler of WUSTL’s Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum and Renée Maurer (not pictured) of The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., curated this exhibit.

It’s for the kids
Regular visits by support dogs and their owners comfort patients of St. Louis Children’s Hospital, part of the Washington University Medical Center. In addition to providing the best support and clinical care to children, the hospital and the School of Medicine have teamed up through the Children’s Discovery Institute to conduct innovative research designed to discover cures for the most serious childhood disorders.

Tracking Super-TIGER
An enormous balloon has taken the Super-TIGER cosmic ray experiment into the stratosphere. Professor Robert Binns, principal investigator, and fellow scientists from Washington University, California Institute of Technology and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center hope to confirm that cosmic rays are created in loosely organized groups of hot, massive stars.

CGI U to engage future leaders
Students, youth organizations, topic experts and celebrities will come together to discuss innovative solutions to global challenges at the Clinton Global Initiative University. Washington University will host CGI U 2013 on April 5-7. Undergraduate and graduate students interested in participating directly need to apply by January 30.
