Occupational therapy student Keland Scher unites his passion for play with his experiences in teaching through a course he developed for children who are deaf or hard of hearing. As the eight- to 12-year-olds learn circus arts like juggling and spinning plates, they grow in confidence and improve their social skills.

Going tubular
Washington University scientists have been mapping caves, giant tubes formed by lava, on the volcanic Galàpagos islands. Many of these lava tubes, home to dark-adapted species unknown to science, had never been explored.
