Graham Chapel: A historic gathering place
At the center of Danforth Campus is Graham Chapel, built in 1907 and dedicated in 1909. Rounded turrets at each corner, numerous carved bosses and a stained glass window depicting the dedication of Solomon's temple adorn the chapel. Seating about 800 people, this nonsectarian facility is a popular venue for lectures, concerts, plays and weddings. Graham Chapel is one of 19 buildings on the Danforth Campus to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Exploring the planet Mars
Displayed in the Earth and Planetary Sciences Building, a replica of the Mars twin rovers Spirit and Opportunity symbolizes Washington University's contributions to planetary exploration. Since these mobile robots landed on Mars in 2004, faculty, staff and students have been analyzing and archiving data that will help determine whether Mars was, is, or can be a habitable world. NASA's Geosciences Node and Regional Planetary Image Facility are located in the university's Earth and Planetary Remote Sensing Laboratory.
