Field House and Recreational Gym

Work on the original Field House began in 1925. The Field House we see today was completed in 1985 as part of a major renovation and expansion of the University's athletic facilities. The Field House seats approximately 3,800 for sports events, and is home to W.U. men's basketball and women's volleyball. In addition to athletic contests, the Field House is used for large public events. The Reverend Jesse Jackson, former presidents George Bush and Jimmy Carter, and first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton have spoken in the Field House, and it was the site for the first of the 1992 presidential debates.

Field House and Recreational Gym

The Recreational Gym is a new building, completed in 1985 as part of the renovation of the Athletic Complex. Housed in the Rec. Gym are handball and racquetball courts and the I.E. Millstone Pool, named for the president of a St. Louis construction firm.

The Field House, seen here during the 1989 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Finals. This was the first of 6 championships won by the Women's Voleyball Team between 1989 and 1995.
