Biodiesel

Biodiesel is a diesel fuel produced from vegetable or animal oils or fats. Biodiesel is considered to be clean-burning and uses little if any petroleum. It is biodegradable, non-toxic and generally free of aromatics. It can be used in many standard engines with little or no modification.

Waste cooking oil can be converted to biodiesel. Dining locations on both campuses have entered an agreement with Kelley Green to have waste cooking oil collected to be converted to biodiesel. One dining truck on the Danforth Campus is currently running on biodiesel from this conversion process.
