Cooking by Degrees III contains over 400 recipes contributed by members of the Woman's Club of Washington University. The recipes are many of the favorites served at Mini Luncheons, Board Meetings, and Section Meetings. Just one of these favorite recipes is:

NUTTED WILD RICE AND ORZO

1/2 c. wild rice
1/2 c. orzo
1 c. walnut or pecan halves
1/2 c. golden raisins
1/2 c. black raisins
grated rind of one orange
1/4 c. fresh mint. chopped or 1 T. dry
4 scallions, diced
1/4 c. olive oil
1/3 c. fresh orange juice
1 1/2 tsp. salt
pepper to taste

Rinse rice thoroughly in a strainer. Place rice in a heavy saucepan with 2 3/4 cup cold water and simmer uncovered for 30 to 45 minutes or until well done. Drain. Cook orzo in 3 cups water about 1 0 minutes or until done. Drain. Combine nuts, raisins, orange rind, mint, scallions, olive oil, orange juice and salt and pepper. Mix with rice and orzo. Let stand 2 hours. Serve at room temperature. Recipe Notes: This was served at a Mini Luncheon and was given rave reviews by everyone who attended. Thank you for sharing it Maria.
